Skiing Volcanoes |

For March 2010 plans are laid for Nigel and Jake Meyer to take a small team to ski traverse Mt Etna, Sicily. The five day ski mountaineering adventure which takes a seldom travelled route, is the first of a series of volcano skiing adventures with Jake and Nigel, and is within the bounds of most reasonably good skiers. |

Jake was aged 21(two years ago) when he completed climbing the highest mountains (the seven summits) of the world’s greatest continents. He is the youngest person ever to do so. The two teamed up earlier this year, and decided that with a combined age of 86, that Jakes youth and Nigel’s experience should produce some memorable adventures. Jake is the first to point out that he has a set of knees that do not need to be MOTed every couple of years!.......... And Nigel is quick to point out the tale of the tortoise and the hare. |

About Jake (pictured below). When Jake was just fourteen years old he set himself the challenge of becoming the youngest person to climb the 7 Summits; the highest mountain on each continent. On the 4th June 2005 he achieved his dream, standing on top of Everest; he became the youngest Briton at just 21 to conquer the world’s highest peak via the difficult North Col route as well as the youngest man in the world to complete the 7 Summits, breaking several climbing records on the way. On Tuesday 1st August 2006, Jake Meyer and his team of six, young British adventurers smashed the existing World Record for climbing the 48 highest peaks of Continental USA in the shortest time possible. Continuing on this theme, in 2009 Jake will attempt to climb the highest mountain in every European country in the fastest time. Born on 20th January 1984 in central London, he was educated at Marlborough College and began climbing at 13. Aged 15, he watched the dawn of the new millennium with his father, from his first summit, Kilimanjaro. At 18, he climbed Mount Elbrus in Southern Russia, Europe's highest peak. In 2002, he was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust travelling fellowship to climb Denali, Aconcagua and Kosciusko, the highest peaks in North and South America and Australia respectively. Jake is an Ambassador for the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and has presented Gold Awards at Buckingham Palace. Jake brings his youth and vigour to speaking; his confident and natural style has held the interest of even the toughest business audience. He has been a regular speaker at events like The Times Destinations, Olympia and Birmingham NEC, regular after dinner speaking on board P&O cruise ships, as well as the keynote speaker for senior management events for Royal Bank of Scotland and Deloitte. "Unfortunately, getting to the top is only half the story - you have to get back down afterwards." "Succeeding in life isn’t about climbing Mount Everest. It’s about finding your own personal Everest’s, and doing everything within your power to conquer them." |
